Mike Landry

When his parents encouraged him to become an altar server at age 9, Mike had no idea what the future consequences would be. For him, it was a way to make Mass more interesting… but God had bigger plans for Mike. Five years later (1995), Mike was still an altar server, though now mostly to fulfill his required community service hours for religion class at his Catholic school. One Saturday night, Mike discovered that his parish had hired a youth minister, and decided to get involved. As a result of this choice, Mike discovered the most important person he would ever know: Jesus Christ. He began to invest himself into that relationship, and discovered the treasury of the Catholic faith.
Looking back and seeing the difference that youth ministry made in his life, it was clear where he most wanted to work: in youth ministry. And so, beginning two weeks after high school Mike began to serve in youth ministry.
Mike Landry currently works as the youth minister at Holy Trinity Parish in Spruce Grove, working in both the parish and Evergreen Catholic Schools. He has eleven plus years of experience in a variety of areas: music ministry, overseeing traveling retreat teams, as a staff member at Camp St. Louis near Bonnyville, coordinating LIFE TEEN at Holy Family Parish in St. Albert, and now, similar ministry at Holy Trinity. Mike recently received a Bachelor of Theology degree from Newman Theological College. He is also the leader of the worship band Anaphora, who serves at various Catholic events around the Archdiocese of Edmonton. Mike currently resides in Spruce Grove with his wife and two beautiful children.
Mike speaks on variety of topics, leads Q & As on Catholic teaching, and offer music ministry to youth and children. He has developed a series of half-day retreats based on the National Office of Religious Education (NORE) religious studies curriculum from grades 5-8; and eighty minute sessions based on the same curriculum for grades 9-12. He can also present half and full-day retreats on a variety of topics to youth of any age. If you would like to invite Mike to your parish, school, or other youth ministry event, please e-mail him at mike@iamthird.ca. If you wish a full band, you can also contact him about Anaphora.
